A New Skincare Routine

My favorite thing to do is take a hot shower. Especially In the middle of winter it has become one of my favorite things to do.. My method is the same, but now includes something special to treat myself and add more pampering in all this dry and cold weather: Oil! I use it for everything! This new (new to me) skincare routine includes all of the classic bath time treats and then some. And, of course, Dashi has her little bath time treat.

Oil for my teeth
Cookies on my TikTok definitely worked on me. After seeing Guru Nanda repetedly, I fell for the marketing and ordered the kit. I got mine on Amazon. I was bound to try oil pulling someday, so I pulled the trigger. A coconut oil-based product with a wintry peppermint touch. Apparently, its also great for people with receding gums, and I find that my teeth are whiter? Anyway, R&R for my teeth is becoming more important to me as I get older, so the extra step does not feel extra, you know?

Oil for my hair
Now, this is a game changer. Oiling hair before washing has been proven to decrease the amount of hair shedding and breakage. As a fine-haired girly, this is true. My hair feels more moisturized than ever. I stopped using conditioner altogether. My hair feels fuller, too. What magic in a bottle is this? I use rosemary and mint from TJMaxx, but you can find it on amazon, too. Linked below for easy shopping.

Oil for my body
For winter, I start oiling in the shower. I adore Tree Hut. I go for anything coconut. And then I slather my skin in BioOil. It is old school. But that’s why it’s so good and a true classic bath staple.

Oil for my dog
Dashi’s paws need the extra moisture, so she gets a healthy lathering of coconut oil on her paw pads. We don’t overdo it, just a touch to add lux and yummy moisture to prevent paw cracks. It’s a delicious smell. She doesn’t mind a little taste, either!
